Tigers brace for T20 warm-ups


As part of the preparations for the upcoming series against the West Indies, Bangladesh cricket team, divided into two groups, BCB Red and BCB Green will battle it out in two T20 matches at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium starting today.

The Tigers played their last international T20 match more than a year ago against Australia at Bridgetown in the ICC World Twenty20.

National skipper Mushfiqur Rahim will lead the BCB Red team, formed with players, who has been named for the only T20 match against the West Indies. Their opponents, BCB Green will be captained by top order batsman, Shahriar Nafees.

The match is likely to take place on typical Bangladeshi wicket, where batsmen are expected to get advantage thus some spark from the batting specialists may be expected. However, it will state, how good the players can cope up with the momentum of the game.

Fresh faces, all-rounder Nasir Hossain and Shuvagata Hom, who will be playing for BCB Red and BCB Green respectively, will carry some pressure on their shoulders for the match.

On the other hand, star batsman Alok Kapali who is still in search of a solid platform in the national side is also expected to display some of his moves with the willow which made him an Indian Cricket League (ICL) star.

“This match is going to stand as a big test for me, as I will need to get back in the team and propel my career forward. I might get a chance in the ODIs if I can perform in the T20,” said the 27-year-old.

The match is scheduled to start at six in the evening, if not interrupted by the overcast weather.
